It’s been 11 years since the photo above was taken at the 2004 Pride Parade. Eleven years later and we’re still so incredibly proud and honoured to parade with UofT every year. We’ll be joining them again at this year’s very special World Pride Parade. Join us at the parade at Church and Bloor Street.

See you all in green and rainbow colours!

Jane’s Walk Launch Party

Jane' s Walk

Urban dwellers, community activists and music lovers alike: On Friday, May 2nd come and join Samba Elegua as we help kick off the 2014 Jane’s Walk Launch Party! The party begins a whirlwind weekend of community and local discovery, all taking place in this wonderful city of ours (Toronto, that is!).

Jane’s Walk is a movement of free, locally led walking tours inspired by Jane Jacobs. The walks get people to explore their cities and connect with neighbours. The Toronto edition will be no exception.

Samba Elegua will play at different intervals throughout the night of the launch party. Things kick off at 6 p.m., at Bathurst and College and will end up at 918 Bathurst. Stick around and help take the party to the next level. When it comes to community, we’re all in this together!

The event begins at 1 p.m. with a march from the Music Therapy Centre (1175 Bloor St. W., between Dufferin and Lansdowne) to the Lula Lounge (1585 Dundas St. W.), accompanied by the soulful rhythms of Maracatu Mar Aberto, followed by a party with the beat-making goodness of Samba Elegua. Partake in cupcakes and other fun stuff, all in support of music therapy!
